Olympia & the Kentucky Meat Shower
In March 1876, flakes of what witnesses swore was fresh meat fell from a clear Bath County sky. Two locals famously tasted it. Best scientific guess: vultures, in flight, unburdening. Nothing to tour — the story is the attraction.
Zilpo Scenic Byway
Nine paved forest miles beside Cave Run Lake, the Muskie Capital of the South, ending at a swim beach on a piney peninsula.
Minor Clark Fish Hatchery
Below the dam, one of the country's biggest warm-water hatcheries raises infant muskies by the million. Visitors welcome in daylight.
Lockegee Rock
A short, steep, hands-on scramble to a bald sandstone crown with forest to the horizon. Hands out of pockets.
