Fourth Saturdays April–October, downtown Somerset becomes the Car Cruise Capital of Kentucky, noon–6 (2026 dates verified: remaining Aug 22, Sep 26, Oct 24).
Big South Fork Scenic Railway
A three-hour round trip through a 256-foot tunnel and down the gorge to the Blue Heron ghost mining camp, where oral histories of real miners haunt the steel tipple — in the good way. Thu–Sun in season; Polar Express at Christmas. Book ahead.
Yahoo Falls
Kentucky's tallest waterfall (113 feet), pouring off a rock amphitheater you can walk behind. Stairs; worth every one.
Mill Springs
A national monument battlefield plus a working gristmill with one of the largest overshot waterwheels anywhere.
76 Falls
A waterfall that pours straight into Lake Cumberland when levels cooperate. Drama with zero cardio.
